Post-marathon: That Freaking Forty Two Shirt

When Jaymie (the bull runner) posted a draft of a team manila finisher's shirt, everyone was all praises and excited about owning that ****in' forty shirt. I was didn't like to own that shirt then. I found it distasteful and I didn't like to wear anything negative so during the send-off I skipped the line to get that (now) freakin' forty two shirt.

But after experiencing the pain and the joy of finishing my first marathon, I understood the attraction to own that shirt so right after my race I bought my own. I am proud to wear it 'coz it is a reminder of my achievement of being able to run 42 kilometers and how that 42km run wasn't easy.

Proud of that forty freaking two

I'm Registered to the Nat Geo Earth Day Run 2013!

Registration for Nat Geo Earth Day Run 2013 began on March 15 online (by visiting http://natgeorun.com) and on March 18 at the Greenbelt 3 onsite. I registered before the start of the long weekend.

Here's how I registered onsite:

First, I entered my details in one of their laptops.

Then, I paid with one of the VIP Cards (Thanks, Event King!). You may refer to my event information post for the registration fees.

During this step, the cashier will give you your race kits, a water bottle and tags for the trees you'll be donating.

After which, you'll have to check out the rack with sample singlet sizes and claim your singlet.

Don't forget to label your trees and drop the tags on the box.

Lastly, you have to option to check in facebook or do it in your own home.

I have to warn you though that the staff aren't that well equipped with the things the have to do so opt for online registration unless you can visit Greenbelt 3 easily. For concerns, email secretariat@natgeorun.com

My Bull Runner Dream Marathon 2013 Testimonial

I'm a marathon runner!

I am Thirdy Lopez, 27 years old. I have been working in the IT industry since I earned my degree in IT and I have been running in official run events since 2011. I first heard of the Bull Runner Dream Marathon, a unique 42km race exclusive for first and second time marathoners, when my friend (CJ aka run adobo king) had began his quest to become a marathoner on 2012. On March last year, my Pex Running Club (PRC) teammates cheered him on  his first marathon.  At that time, I didn't think I could do the same feat until September 2012 when I signed up for the 2013 batch. The same friend (CJ) helped me in accomplishing the registration procedures since I was then working onshore.

Condura Skyway Marathon 2013: Running uphills and downhills for Mangroves

Condura Skyway Marathon is an annual race for a cause that covers the Skyway. This year, the race was held on February 3 with the race start at the Alabang Filinvest.  The event was also organized in the benefit of the Mangroves in Zambales, same as last year.

Thanks to Mia for bringing this mangrove hat!

Pre-Race

Blogger Friend Deemen Runner had assisted me in registering for this event. We registered 21km as documented in his blog post. The Condura Skyway Marathon was part of the TBRDM training plan so I was already training before the event.

Actual Race

Started the Race with Jet

Nag-iisang photo from active moments

I planned to run at an easy pace since it was TBRDM training run after all. Good thing CJ paced with me. We ran the first 5km and did 3-1 galloway for the rest of the race. With the help of my garmin, we were able to keep track of the supposed walk breaks. Also following a lesson from a TBR Bull Circle, I learned not to fight gravity and take frequent walk breaks at uphills and let gravity help you at downhills by running fast. Skyway route was all about uphill and downhill. It was a real challenge. We finished at 2:49.

My favorite snack is the banana

Post-Race

Pex Running Club

After meeting with Pex Running Club, we met Deemen Runner at the Acacia Hotel (anlayo lang nito), we followed our PRC teammates to McDo which turned out to be farther than we expected. Puro lakad lang itong Condura weekend na ito ah.

Proud 21k finisher

It was a fun race. Majority of the running community wouldn’t miss this as it was just once a year we would have the opportunity to run the Skyway.
