No baby born from HIV

This email is from One.org

Dear ONE Member ,Take action now: sign the petition
I was born to an HIV-positive mother, but due to a simple treatment she was lucky enough to receive during delivery, I am HIV-negative.
Not all children are so lucky – over 1,000 babies are born with HIV everyday.
At last week’s UN summit in New York I pushed decision makers to create a plan that would ensure no child is born with HIV after 2015.
Progress was made at the summit, but much more needs to be done.
Please join me by signing up to be part of ONE’s Baby Protest and call for an HIV-free generation here:
Petition text:
By 2015 we can make sure no child is born with HIV. It all starts with an agreement at the United Nations to combat extreme poverty, with every country doing their bit. Please do yours.
Next week world leaders will meet to invest in the Global Fund – an organisation that saves a staggering 4,000 lives a day and helps prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
Together we can achieve a world where no child is born with HIV by 2015.
Sincerely,
Florida Mwesiga, ONE Member

Stepping out of my Comfort Zone

I am uncomfortable with doing such a thing but I just signed up for a seminar/workshop with the Real-estate guru, Trace Trajano. I have been a fan of the book and I thought then I would like to put that book into practice... But I guess I was just too afraid to act on it...

'Coz it is not easy and I don't know anyone who will do it with me.

But as I heard once in a networking seminar, Success lies outside your comfort zone.

I am 24 years old and I still have a lot of life to live and a lot of ways to be backed-up... I should take a chance to do something. not to be in my comfort zone. I maybe going somewhere but I am not going to where I wanna be.. I have big dreams and I don't want to achieve them using loans that I pay off till I die...

Move Forward. Take bigger steps

Declaration

I am declaring that I shall not push through with any application for another job in the Philippines anymore.

I am tired of going to offices that I don't like their locations. I am comfortable in my PBCOM Tower office.

I am tired of answering questions that I have to memorize from books. In my job, they ask me questions.

I am tired of saying I don't like to do night shift. My job is 9 to 6 with the ocassional OT, a part of being in the IT industry. Why change?

Ayoko na.. Wala naman pinatutunguhan...

Buti pa mag-intay na lang ako ng offer abroad..

Target: Malaysia....

Sana, Malaysia...

Things I do everyday

  1. Go to work. I need the money to live the lifestyle I have now.
  2. Read a book, a magazine or an online article.
  3. Eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks before dinner.
  4. Check my budget notebook.
  5. Say I love you to my honey
  6. Personal stuff: Yell success and release the amazon river things
  7. Check FB
  8. Download a TV show episode, a movie or a TV series
  9. Exercise (goes every other day) More Endorphins=happiness
  10. Be OC on something like schedules, new knowledge, etc

Find another job or not

Obviously, I still have mixed feeling on whether to stay in my current job or not.

When asked why are you looking for other opportunities?
I answered...
Honestly, I'm doing okay in my current job. I am doing stuff I haven't done before I am growing and  I have good compensation but this had become my comfort zone and success happens outside your comfort zone.

Ewan ko ba!

Leaving your comfort zone isn't easy. Doing job interviews require effort and I guess I want to give my efforts elsewhere. It is difficult to prove yourself over over again and the results fall short of what I am getting now...

Ang hirap!

On Call

I don't like being on call...

When I leave the office, I want my work to be left at the office, too...

I was filing a leave when I couldn't do anything but be okay with being on call...

I wish being on a rest day would really mean a rest day...

Hindi na ako newbie blogger

Someone from a pinoy forum made me look at my old entries in this blog.

I look back at my first entry claiming I am a newbie blogger.

This is a blog about becoming an old blogger.

Scratch that... It seems that is an inappropriate term...

I guess I had grown. I'm a different person yet I am still me.

I have a new outlook on life. I realized and learned a lot of things.

And this blog grew with me....

So how do I call myself then a grown blogger?

Random Writing: New Umbrella (Bagong Payong)

Random Writing:

  • I bought a new umbrella. Took me a while to choose which one to buy one. But I knew I wanted it to automatically open. But all the ones there that automatically open also automatically close so I have to get use to closing my umbrella with a button instead of closing it manually. I didn't care to look at the SM umbrella brands 'coz they may have a 3 month warranty but they only last 3 months. I was looking for the same brand I got a year or so ago 'coz it lasted so long until the handle was broken last month and the button to open the umbrella got lost last weekend as I it accidentally opened in the jeepney. But I couldn't remember the brand. The one that seem like a good brand was costly. So I opted for the first one I saw that is less than P300. Hopefully, it lasts like the one that I just replaced did.
  • I finally got to reading the latest issue of Men's Health. In their alpha male section, a writer was featured. His statements reminded me of my Writers' Guild days. We used to advise our members. Just continue writing. Don't care if it makes sense. Just Write... Aww, WG days... Anyway, going back to some of his thought. He said there is no writer's block if a writer is motivated. I was reminded how I survived going 100m in a pool and an hour of precision cycling. It is keeping your mind to the end goal. I guess I neglect that in my whole life... I don't even know exactly what I want...

Start Acting on First Impulse

I'm having a hard time listening to myself lately.

Second guessing myself had lead me to stupid choices.

They may not be big decisions that cause me major (major [maki-sali daw sa trending]) mistakes but it annoyed me that I made a wrong move.

Last Sunday, I was to have a short swim refresher with Kuya Herman from PEX at the Army Pool. I was ready to go directly to the venue but second guessing lead me to drop by the condoand leave my huge bag... As it turns out, the venue was a 30 minute commune and I thought it was gonna be a 10 minute jeepney ride... With the pool closing on 6pm (sharp coz we are talking about army guys here), I only had a less than 30 minute lesson. Bright side though, I got to learn a butterfly drill and got better at diving...

And as I if I hadn't learned, I did another booboo on Monday. I had a job interview with Smart. I didn't actually planned or thought much about it. So I went in the morning, I was expecting it to be an hours or so. Pero 1 and 1/2 hours pala siya... I haven't learned. Smart wants to make people wait... I went back in the afternoon and it was a 4 hour wait for an hour of interview. I missed majority of my work day so nag-dahilan na lang ako... Dapat nag-leave na lang ako...

Will not do that again! I should...

Perks of Credit Cards

A few years ago I was so afraid of having a credit card.

Luckily though, I came over that fear as I realize that I religiously handle my budget with careful considerations.

So last weekend, we went to eat at Banana Leaf in Greenbelt 3.

We were thinking of eating at Crocodile Grille but we already ate there so we decided to look for another place... We stumbled upon Banana Leaf which serves Malaysian, Singaporean, Thai and Vietnamese cuisines.

I seem to remember this restaurant having a discount in my HSBC so we inquired...

HSBC has 5% discount and 50% for Premier members

Citibank has 10% discount.

We had a hearty meal of Mee Goreng, Green Chicken Curry and Spicy Garlic Fried Cod Fish with Hainanese Rice.

With the discount, we got rid of the service fee and we were on our budget of P1000 for the meal...

Perks!
