Bloggers with the Medicard - MetaFit Team
Started on June 10, Medicard and Jim Saret's Medicard Team, consisting of Coach Ken, Coach Irene and biggest loser finalists Hazel and Raffy (who are also serving as supportive coaches in the program), have forged a partnership to organize the Medicard - Meta Fit Fitness Camp Season 2 Leg 1 at the Medicard Lifestyle Center in Paseo de Roxas, Makati. For details on joining the next 2 legs (total of 3 legs for this season) happening on July to October at different venues across the Metro Manila area, check out the Medicard Philippines facebook page.
A taste of Meta Fit
On June 8, I was fortunate enough to be one of the bloggers who were invited for a taste of the Medicard - Metafit experience that enrollees will be doing for June 10 to July 5 for the Fitness Camp Season 2 Makati Leg. I had experience doing Meta Fit workouts in some of the sessions of the Ayala Triads so I was already expecting doing a series of exercises in quick time. We started with a few stretches and a short warm up.
Warm Up
Honestly, I thought the workout was going to be easier compared to Cross Fit WODs that I had tried in the past (Metafit - 4 minutes; CrossFit - 10+ minutes) so this will be not be easy but doable. Here was the workout:
- 10 jumping jacks
- 10 squats
- 10 pushups
- 10 lunges for each leg (20 in total)
As many rounds as possible for 4 minutes.
Sounds "easy". I didn't go all out at first as I was saving energy towards the end but lo and behold the 4 minute was already over and I finished 4 rounds and 5 jumping jacks. I did more than the expected 3 rounds and I was happy but crazy folks could do 7 which is still great that means I wasn't that crazy yet (TALAGANG YET?).
Round 1: Squats + Push ups
Round 2: Hip Raises + Mountain Climbers
Round 3: Isolated Push ups + Russian Twists
They gave a minute or two of rest until they asked us to do 3 rounds of tabata workout. Here we did two exercises for 20 seconds each and rested for 10 after each set for 2 rounds, completing 2 minutes each round. First round was a combination of squat presses and push ups. Next round was composed of hip raises and mountain climbers. The Last round was a mixture of isolated sit ups and russian twists. Then, we did a series of cool down exercises. Lastly, we finished the night with cocktails and socials.

Review
Meta Fit is a great workout for people who are looking into losing fat and becoming stronger. On the first day of the participants will be measured to separate them on their categories (beginner and advanced) as well as creating a baseline to see how much they improved in their goals by the end of the month. This program is great for beginners and intermediate fitness enthusiasts as it works you out with motivational and medical support (sa Medicard center ka ba naman mag-workout, safe na safe ka). With a month's program done in 30 minutes to an hour, it is great for day shift employees.
Thanks for the low calorie sweets! Ubos ko na agad...
The investment is also cheap as compared to a usual gym's membership fee. Plus you will be assisted with experts' guidance in the form of the coaches. If you are free from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and are willing to shell out two week's worth of coffee, join this program by visiting their facebook page.
Medicard - Meta Fit Coaches
I felt the effects of the workout the next day. As I had to rest from doing core exercises as Meta Fit had worked my core too much with just 25 minutes. But I am in the point of my fitness journey where body weight wouldn't be enough so I'll be opting to not to join in the program. Also, I just transferred shifts so I can't make a 6:30pm schedule even if the venue is a 15 minute walk from the office. But I highly recommend the program to beginners and fitness enthusiasts looking for more guidance. For hardcore people, this is not for you.
More power to Medicard and Meta Fit Team!

Atom: Kayang kaya to ng hardcore people... Mabobore sila... :P
Hi! This sounds really interesting. But I have mild scoliosis :( Would you know if it's still recommended for those with sorta bad backs? Thanks :)
Sheena: yes, I recommend it to folks with medical issues. Why? At the first day, these things will be access so you'll be put in group where you could progress and still be challenge so you'll be fitter.
In any case, something bad may happen. You are steps away from medical professional who can attend to your needs.
