I'd just like to express my love of apples.
Apples look great with its red hue and almost round shape.
Its sweet but its filled with fiber so it fills you up for merienda.
And as they say "an apple a day keeps the doctor away." Check out this link for why they say that.

My Pescatarian Experiment
After my Rip 60 class, I overheard my gym instructor telling someone that she doesn't eat pork. Then, I remembered Piolo Pascual and Rafael Rosell also doesn't eat pork (as mentioned in their interviews). I had a wild idea to try not eating pork for a while.
My first experiment is to try just eating fish for a week.
Here is my meal plan for the week:
Monday: Sweet and Sour Maya Maya
Tuesday: Grilled Tilapia
Wednesday: Fish Fillet
Thursday: Shabu Shabu
Friday: Pansit with squid rolls
Saturday: Maya Maya with Chili Sauce
I got fish versions of nuggets, longanisa, corned tuna and other tuna products.
It was hard to not get my favorite breakfast and pork products but this may be worth a try.

How to cope with losing slots in the Run united 1 21K?
There is an online buzz for more slots in the 21k category of Run United 1 2012 since RunRio had already filled up 4,000 slots for 21k in the much awaited run happening on March 4, 2012. (Opo, ubos na po ang 21k slots for Run united 1 2012... IBANG KLASE!)
Run United is the much awaited first part of the Run United Trilogy that will reward its top distance finishers with this "magic" medal.
That once completed with medals from RU1, RU2 and the RUPM gives you the key to "superhero powers".
Disclaimer: I do not guarantee that this medal offer special powers thus the use of quotes ("")
But since runners who take to long to decide had lost their opportunity to get this medal since all 4,000 21k slots had been filled up. No word from Run Rio yet if they'll incur additional work to accommodate this demand for more slots.
In the mean time, here are some suggestions to coping with losing 21k slots to Run United 1 2012?
1. Register for 10k, 5k or 3k and enjoy running the Run Rio Trilogy despite missing 21k.
2. Register for RU2 and RU3 and enjoy running the rest of the Run Rio Trilogy, missing one medal.
3. Find a friend who's running the 21k and throw your friend to an undisclosed location. Assume his/her identity until Run United 1 is over. Use a memory charm so he'll forget about Run United 1.
4. Register for RU2 21k and find someone running a 21k in RU1. Make him/her your bestfriend, fling or lover. At RU3, part ways but make sure you have his/her RU1 medal. You could still complete the puzzle.
5. Register for RU2 and RU3 then hire someone to run 21k in either RU2 or RU3 you could still complete the puzzle but 2 pieces would be the same. I'm not sure if the medals will still fit together though.
I'll update you once I find and think of other ideas. I have a few more in mind but my blog my get a "rep".

FIC Run 2012
For the first time, Fox
International Channels (FIC) provides a venue for its couch potato fans to get
off their living room chairs and off to the road for the FIC Run on March 25,
2012 at Bonifacio Global City.
This event gives runners the opportunity to choose and participate in
any of the four races organized by FIC featuring different lifestyle themes
representing its four key channels. It will have four race categories that
include an advocacy marathon aimed at raising funds to support the various
projects of partner non-government organizations (NGOs).
Participants may register in the 500m Fox Costume Run, 3K Star Movies
Blockbuster Run, 5K Star World Lifestyle and the 10K Nat Geo Run For a Cause.
Those who are interested to join may register either via online or phone, at
RunRio stores (BHS and Katipunan) and event partner stores. Participants may
choose their singlet according to the channel and label they wish to run
with.
Come dressed in your favorite character and run
alongside fellow enthusiasts and sponsor mascots in the 500m Fox Costume Run.
Fifty runners in costume will compete and make a dash for the finish line.
Limited edition Fox DVD will be raffled off after the race.
Star Movies rolls out the red carpet for movie
aficionados in the 3K Star Movies Lifestyle Run where writers, film producers
and movie directors are expected to show their support to the event. For a bit
of a movie trivia and a tad of inspiration, popular quotes from movie characters
will be setup along the course. A home entertainment system is up for grabs in
the raffle draw.
Run with panache – this is the battle cry of lovers
of fashion and fitness when they run the 5K Star World Lifestyle Run featuring
a red carpet along the route to mimic the paparazzi scene. Brush elbows with
models, celebrities and other prominent personalities expected to show up in
their running shoes. If you’re feeling lucky, you might just bring home gift
certificates for a shopping spree at the end of the race.
Have fun while reaching out to
others in the 10K National Geographic Run for a Cause. The race is in
partnership with 10 select non-government organizations and seeks to raise
awareness for their respective advocacies. Among the partner NGOs are
Physicians for Peace, ICANSERVE Foundation, Virlanie, Greenpeace, Philippine
Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, World Vision and Gawad Kalinga. The first 500
registrants will compete in the name of their advocacy.
PEx Running Club's Running 101 Activity
Last January 23(the Chinese New Year Holiday), I woke up earlier than normal to join PEx Running Club at Ayala Triangle as we hold our first Running 101 activity. Lead by ANR Team Lead Drew Llanes aka BTL (an abbreviation of different names we teased him), the Running 101 activity was attended by 35- 45 pexers, active PRC and newbie runners.
We began the activity with a short introduction of Drew, Team Diadora composed of Pedo, Allan and Kit and heads of PRC, CJ and me.
Then, we led the runners on a short lap around part of Ayala Triangle for warm up.

Hyper Sports Get Fit Program
I was blog surfing when I came across bananarunning's post about the HyperSports Get Fit Program. I was curious so I decided to check out their home page.
Hyper sports, Inc is a group of athletes (runners and track and field-ers) who share their knowledge on running and fitness, in general for free. Their aim is to promote good health and physical fitness to prepare their participants for different types of sports but mainly for running.
On January 21, I decided to attend the 2nd session of the Get Fit Program. It started late since there was an event in Ultra but we did just as planned. From 4pm, we warmed up with drills (high knees, modified butt kicks, etc). Then, we did dynamic stretches.
Then, we did circuit training. The coaches considered that a number of us will be running the Timex Run so to cap off the training, we did relays around the Ultra oval instead of longer runs. This was a competition and the consequence for the losing team is to drop on all fours and climb under the winners.
For more details on that session's training, check out this link.
This program is free. Hyper Sports even provided free shirts. So they'll train you for free, give you a shirt and even keep you hydrated and keep you energized with bananas. All you have to do is sign up in this website.

A Running Start for Unilab Active Health
Run United 1 on March 4 offers a number of
firsts
The 2012 Unilab ActiveHealth calendar is off to a raring start, as the registration for its first event this year—Run United 1 on March 4—picks up pace. On its sixth offing, Run United 1 continues to reinvent itself. It is set to once again offer runners a number of firsts.
“This is our first hurrah this year and we very pleased with the enthusiastic response so far from the running community. Registration, both online and in selected stores, is rapidly picking up. We are looking forward to another active year,” said Alex Panlilio, Head of Unilab Active Health. Run United 1 will still feature five race categories: Ceelin 500m dash for kids, 3k, 5K, Enervon 10K, and Enervon HP 21K.
Organizers Unilab Active Health and RunRio Inc. are introducing several new features to give participants a better running experience. These include new race routes, better hydration stations, improved security, safety marshals, new freebies, more exciting ActiveHealth village, among others.
Starting this year, the RunRio Trilogy/Run United Series of races will have different registration or pre-race giveaways. For Run United 1, it will be a race belt or bib holder. Even the medals for 21K finishers are made more special. It will be a collectible medal, thus those who will participate all of the three Run United races during the year, can put together all their finisher medals and form a big Run United medal.
“The joint Run United medals will serve as a true testament of the runners’ commitment to an active and healthy lifestyle. It is a good souvenir of all their 2012 Run United races combined,” said Lester Castillo, brand manager of Active Health.
Besides the new medals, half marathoners will have their gun start at Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig and finish off at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
“We are very excited about the Run United races this year because we have so much in store for the runners. We are introducing a number of new features to give them even better quality runs because that is what Run United is all about,” said Rio dela Cruz of RunRio Inc.
Children also get to have their own singlet, too. After all, Run United prides itself for having the first to introduce a 500-meter dash in its races. “We really like to get the children get started in running young. So besides the other unique giveaways for them, the singlet is another come-on for them,” cited Dela Cruz.
Interested runners can register at these stores: Riovana at Bonifacio Global City and Katipunan, Quezon City; Toby’s at SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City; and The Athlete’s Foot at Robinson’s Galleria, Ortigas. For online registration, check details at www.runrio.com. Registration is until February 26, but race kits may run out before then, so the organizers urge everyone to register early to secure slots.
Run United is for the benefit of Gawad Kalusugan (the health program of Gawad Kalinga) and Hero Foundation. “Run United is part of Unilab’s advocacy through Unilab Active Health to promote an active lifestyle among Filipino families. Each event has been carefully designed and scheduled with the help of the race organizers and experts to allow each participant to sustain their active lifestyles throughout the year. We would like to thank all those who continue to support the Active Health programs” said Alex Panlilio, Head of Unilab Active Health.
Run United 1 is only the first of the Run United series. Run United 2 is set for June 17 and Run United 3 on September 16. Run United’s very own full marathon or 42K race, the Run United Philippine Marathon, is also slated for October 28.
The following are the other events of Unilab Active Health lined up for this year: The Bull Runner Dream Marathon, March 18; Tri United 1, April 14-15; Tri United 2, June 30-July 1; Tri United 3, November 10-11 as well as running and triathlon clinics all year round.
For more inquiries on Run United and Active Health, check out these websites: www.unilabactivehealth.com andwww.runrio.com as well as their respective fan pages on Facebook and Twitter.

Vaseline Men XTERRA Off-Road Triathlon Series: World-class triathlon in the Philippines
Press Release:
Experience World-class triathlon at the
Vaseline Men XTERRA
Off-Road Triathlon Series.
The Philippines is
one of the world’s best destinations for triathlons. Its rugged terrain, picturesque sceneries and
crystalline waters never fail to challenge even the most hardened
triathlete. It’s no wonder that
world-class triathlons are staged in the country, foremost of which is the
Vaseline Men XTERRA Off-Road Triathlon Series.
A trail run tests your
limits as you endure a rugged landscape.
Presented by Vaseline Men the leading and fastest growing
men’s skin care brand with a comprehensive product range (including facial
wash, moisturizer, lotion and body wash), and organized by Sunrise Events, Inc.,
the event is comprised of three legs, Pang Rave Run, XTERRA Weekend and Putik
Pare. Each activity promises to deliver
a challenging yet enjoyable experience for all seasoned triathletes.
But what exactly is XTERRA? The XTERRA story began some
16 years ago in Maui, Hawaii.
Formerly called Aquaterra, it consisted of an open-ocean swim, a
mountain bike race, and a trail run. It
represented a bold new racing format that attracted outdoor enthusiasts, mostly
mountain bikers and triathletes. The mountain bikers brought their laid-back style and
bold self-assurance. The triathletes brought their hard-core training and avid
dedication. They soon discovered a common spirit and attitude that pulled them
together. For as different as they are, neither could resist the challenges and
thrills that this new multi-sport offered.
Traverse challenging terrain in the mountain bike leg.
Needless to say, it quickly
gained a huge following as participants enjoyed the chill of fresh ocean waves,
biking with exquisite views and the thrill of running on pure adrenaline. These are but some of the factors that make XTERRA
truly captivating and exciting.
Even more remarkable is that now, triathletes will get a chance to stamp their
mark against the world’s best, thanks to Vaseline Men XTERRA Off-Road Triathlon
Series. That’s because the XTERRA
Weekend Triathlon and Trail Run in Cebu (March 17 – 18) are qualifiers to the XTERRA
Off-Road Triathlon World Championship in Maui, Hawaii in October and the XTERRA
Trail Run World Championship in Oahu, Hawaii in December. The Philippines has 35 slots to both
World Championships.
It’s you versus the elements
at the
Vaseline Men XTERRA Off-Road Triathlon Series.
It
is indeed amazing that Filipinos now get to showcase their triathlon skills in
the world’s premiere off-road triathlon series.
Today, XTERRA manages a 60-race global series, with championship events
held in Saipan, New Zealand, South Africa, the Czech Republic, Italy, Austria,
Brazil, Japan, Spain and Germany. Top-ranking athletes from these national championships
are invited to compete at the XTERRA World Championship with athletes who
qualified in the U.S.
series. One of the famous personalities who successfully
competed in the XTERRA World Championship is seven-time Tour De France champion
Lance Armstrong. Aside from being the
preeminent triathlon event, XTERRA also helps preserve and protect race venues,
and provides educational opportunities for at-risk youth.
Top age groupers in the
XTERRA Philippines Championship
will vie for 35 slots in the XTERRA World
Championships in Hawaii.
If you’re up for a world-class triathlon experience,
take up the challenge of the Vaseline Men XTERRA Off-Road Triathlon
Series. To know more, log on to www.xterraphil.com

Guarantee, 2XU, Dusit Thani Manila and media partners The Philippine Star,
Multisport, SBR and Studio 23. Host
venues for this year are Timberland, Antipolo and Amara in Liloan Cebu.

Group Runs (PEX Running Club's 1st Team Training)
Team Training with PRC (Pex Running Club)
Last January 8, Pex Running Club held its first group run. We tagged it as Run and Eat (as opposed to the popular term, Eat and Run, were you eat at a party and leave without socializing too much).
Since I would be in doing bag guarding duties, Lee (who lives nearby our place) accompanied me to do an early morning run following the original plan 5k plan. At around 6am-ish, we met the rest of the group and they did an unexpected 8k run as lead by Noah
After the run, PRC went to Binondo to do food tripping at popular food places.
The next session will be on February 18. We'll be running 5k and 10k this time. Then, we'll be checking out other restaurants in Binondo.
You can join us! Details can be found in this page.

Caring for the skin: It’s also a guy thing
Press Release:
Gone are the days when
skincare, particularly whitening or spot and blemish removal, is exclusively
for women. Nowadays, men are also scouring
the shops for skincare products; after all men’s skin is oilier, thicker, has
larger pores and is more prone to breakouts compared to a woman’s skin.
Moreover, men engage in more outdoor activities, making their skin more susceptible
to damage from the harsh elements in the environment especially the sun.
Therefore, men need products that will address their specific skin care needs
and concerns.
Vaseline Men gives fast and
instant cleansing effects while providing visible whitening results in just two
weeks. Vaseline Men is available in facial wash, moisturizer, body lotion and
body wash.
Vaseline, one of the
biggest skin care brand in the world understood this key difference between a
man and a woman’s skin and has launched Vaseline Men
Skin Care
Range. Vaseline Men not
only gives fast & instant cleansing effects but also provides visible
whitening results. Vaseline Men is available in various skin care formats and
products such as facial wash, moisturizer, body lotion and body wash. Its
anti-spot whitening line provides instant UV protection and makes skin fairer
in just two weeks.
